A: Resilient-seated gate valves feature a wedge fully encapsulated in EPDM rubber, providing zero-leakage sealing (bubble-tight); they are suitable for water, odpadních vod, and mild chemicals. Metal-seated gate valves (metal-to-metal contact) are designed for high temperatures (>150°C) and abrasive media but have a higher leakage rate (Class IV). For most water supply and HVAC applications, resilient-seated gate valves are the most cost-effective choice.

Q2: What is the difference between Non-Rising Stem (NRS) and Outside Screw & Yoke (OS&Y) gate valves?

A: NRS gate valves do not have a rising stem during operation, making them suitable for underground installations and valve pits where overhead clearance is limited. OS&Y gate valves feature a rising stem that provides a visual indication of the valve’s position, making them ideal for applications requiring visual confirmation of the open/closed status.
