LeClapet anti-retour à battant en fonte is a reliable, automatic non-return valve designed to prevent reverse flow in water, eaux usées, et systèmes de tuyauterie industrielle. Featuring a robust cast iron or ductile iron body with a hinged disc that swings freely on a pin, this valve opens with forward flow and closes automatically when flow stops or reverses — protecting pumps, compresseurs, and other equipment from damaging backflow. Available with EPDM soft seal (0°C to +80°C) for bubble-tight shut-off or metal-to-metal seal (-10°C to +350°C) for high-temperature applications. The flanged ends conform to BS EN 1092-2:1997 normes, ensuring compatibility with international piping systems. Working Principle

The swing check valve operates through a simple yet reliable mechanism:

  • 1. Forward Flow (Valve Open): When upstream pressure exceeds downstream pressure, the disc swings open on its hinge pin, allowing flow to pass through with minimal resistance.
  • 2. Reverse Flow or Stop (Valve Closed): When flow stops or reverses, gravity and backflow pressure cause the disc to swing back onto the seat, creating a tight seal.
  • 3. Horizontal Installation: Swing check valves must be installed horizontally (or in slightly sloping lines) to allow gravity to assist in closing the disc.

T1: Can a swing check valve be installed vertically?

UN: Non. Swing check valves must be installed horizontally (or in slightly inclined piping) because gravity is required for the disc to return to the seat when flow stops. Vertical installation prevents the disc from closing completely, resulting in backflow.

T2: What is the difference between soft-seated and metal-seated valves?

UN: Soft-seated (EPDM) valves provide zero-leakage (étanche aux bulles) shut-off and operate within a temperature range of 0°C to +80°C; ils conviennent à l'eau, eaux usées, et produits chimiques doux.
