Concentric reducers have a common centerline, with the larger and smaller ends aligned on the same axis. They are ideal for vertical piping or applications where uniform flow distribution is critical. Eccentric reducers have offset centerlines and are typically used in horizontal piping to maintain consistent bottom or top alignment for drainage or air venting. For most fire protection and HVAC systems, concentric reducers are the standard choice.

Q2: What is the advantage of grooved connection over welded or flanged connection?
Grooved connections require no welding, eliminating fire hazards on site and reducing installation time by up to 80%. They also allow for pipe movement and angular deflection, making them ideal for seismic zones and vibration-prone systems. Unlike flanged connections, grooved joints require fewer bolts and less space, and allow easy disassembly for maintenance or system modifications.

Q3: What is the pressure rating of this reducer? Is it suitable for high-rise building fire systems?
The reducer is rated at 300Psi (2.07MPa), which covers the vast majority of high-rise building fire system pressures (typically 1.0–1.6MPa). For super high-rise buildings exceeding 200 meters or systems with pressure boosting, we offer higher pressure ratings (nt., 500Psi) upon request.

Q4: Can the reducer be used with both ductile iron and steel pipes?
Jah. The grooved connection system is compatible with both ductile iron pipes and steel pipes, as long as the pipe ends are properly grooved according to the same standard (nt., AWWA C606 or ISO 6182-12). We recommend using our matching grooved couplings for optimal sealing and performance.

K5: What surface finish options are available for corrosion protection?
Standard finish is red painted enamel (epoxy-based) offering good corrosion resistance for indoor and general environments. We also offer galvanized, epoxy coated, and Dacromet finishes for more aggressive environments such as coastal areas or chemical plants.
